The horizontal bulk of the building is offet by the clock tower which when seen in close up features delicate stepped sections on the corner of the green cap.The tower serves as a beacon so there is no confusion where the main entrance to the building is.
Working the company logo and brand name into the fabris of the building is a nice touch.
For another view of this great building check out Pickles view at the Dog and Deco Blog.
I love this building. What has it become by the way?
ReplyDeleteSorry Adam. I don't know what it is at the moment.
ReplyDeleteJust walked past it at 4PM on a wednesday... it's all boarded up / closed up. Does not look like it's in use.
ReplyDeleteThe building is Grade II Listed so it should be protected from demolition. I know that there were plans to regenerate the building and develop a luxury hotel but the story on the link below expected work to begin during 2008. Maybe the GFC has delayed the plans.
