These Art Deco apartments at 1950 Clay, Pacific Heights are spectacular and they are many others that are similar around the area.
They tend to follow the same general style. Fantastic decoration along the parapet and below the windows and very grand, decorated entrances.
They even have decoartion on the garages as can be seen in the foreground of this photo. These apartments were designed by Herman C Baumann and built in 1930.Reference:

The decoration along the parapet and below the windows are gorgeous and I imagine the decorated entrances are lovely as well. But compare the 2 delicate shades used in Pacific Heights with Sydney's red brick Deco blocks of flats. San Francisco wins hands down.
ReplyDeleteI think Sydney had a lot of brick works so that explains a lot of use of bricks. Could also be a scale thing. The bigger apartment blocks could afford better/different decoration.
