A walled garden would normally be in the back yard where high walls would protect the garden from the neighbours' footballs and dogs, AND give wall space for plants to grow up.
This terraced garden and low stepped wall in the front yard is more attractive, but also more vulnerable.
It is interesting to think about the difference uses and purposes of the back yard versus the front garden.
The Aussie back garden is the private family space for children's games, the veggie patch and a rotary clothesline. The front is the showcase for strategic planting to present the house in the best light.
Seasons Greetings to you and yours and all the best for 2012.
