Nicely captured! In small country towns, the opening of a big Deco building must have been a monent of pleasure and pride for the locals. Deco pubs in big cities were also lovely, but they might not have stood out so clearly from the surrounding architecture.
I think that is so true Helen. The local pub would have been the centre of just about everything going on in these towns and the church I suppose. So to have a modern pub in the latest style would have been a big deal.
I wouldn't have said that the rusty colour is a colour I have seen on a lot of deco buildings but I agree that they have worked out there colour scheme quite well and it works as a contrast to the cream colour.

ReplyDeleteI forgot to say that my next blog post (Tuesday 12th March) is about a Deco home. See what you think of it.
I look forward to seeing it.
DeleteIs that rusty colour a traditional art deco colour? I don't care. I think it works well and the painting was thoughtfully planned.
