A Building in Bega

Brick Building in Bega

I think the verandah has been added. It covers the bottom of the three lines of raised bricks which is not good design. And that makes me wonder if the doorway and windows if that end of the building are later alterations also. There is no denying, though, the brickwork along the roofline is exceptional.

Arthur B Heurtley House, Oak Park

Arthur B Heurtley House, Oak Park

I've really enjoyed looking through my photos from Oak Park over the last few days so I couldn't resist featuring another Frank Lloyd Wright gem today. It was built in 1902 for banker Arthur Heurtley.

Mrs Thomas H Gale House, Oak Park

Mrs Thomas H Gale House, Oak Park

Surely a house before it's time. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Laura Gale, widow of Thomas H Gale, a real estate agent, it was built in 1909.

Community Centre, Deniliquin

Community Centre, Deniliquin

The sign says Community Centre but this building in Cressy Street, Deniliquin looks like a former service station to me.

4 Peterleigh Grove, Essendon

4 Peterleigh Grove, Essendon

I hope you've enjoyed my previous posts of houses in Peterleigh Grove, Essendon because it is one of Melbourne true Art Deco gems. The majority of houses in the street were built on the cusp and through the early years of the Second World War (1939-41) and there they remain today. This is No. 4. A fairly conventional house with a great porch.
