Twyford Hall in Market Street, Merimbula was built in the early 1930s. The foundation stone was laid by Joseph William Twyford Esq on 8 June 1931 and later a porch dedicated to the memory of of Merimbula Soldiers who served in the First World War was donated by Joseph's second wife, Sarah.
An unusual feature that I really like is an outside bench seat attached to the chimney.References:Twyford Hall Memorial, MaritimeQuest

The bench seat construction looks like an ideal place to store wood or coal.
ReplyDeleteGood idea Andrew, I wonder if it is accessible from inside the hall.
DeleteI remember in the early seventies when watching a movie at Twyford Hall when some guys in the back acted up. Suddenly the movie stopped and the lights came on and a very large middle aged woman said "right you!" and manhandled this guy out the door.
ReplyDeleteGreat story Daryl. I wish she worked at a few film session 'i've been to.
