ADMS 21st Birthday, Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne

We started as SADV - Society Art Deco Victoria and after a couple of name changes we're now the Art Deco & Modernism Society.

Tonight we celebrated our 21st Birthday with a cocktail party in the Melba Foyer, upstairs at Her Majesty's Theatre.

Founding President, Susie Lloyd and current President, Robin Grow, shared the honours cutting the cake.

      Thanks Susan. It was nice to spend time in a room where usually I am just shuffling through the crowd to get to a performance.

    Joining this group has been on my to-do list for a long while. Since about 1934, it seems. I'll get around to it when life calms down a little. Looks like a good night was had by all, and the interior of the room at Her Majesty's Theatre looks stunning.

      I agree teeritz. I have lived in Melbourne for about 80% of my adult life and am still impressed with the Melba Foyer at Her Majesty's Theatre. And the Deco-appropriate cocktails :)

    Don't worry, I will. And it's nice to see some of the ladies getting into the spirit of the occasion by dressing in a '20s style. But the men! Not one hat can be seen among them. I'll fix that.

      There were a few hats … at least one beret and two fez (must find out what the plural of fez is).
