Leadlight Windows in Napier

Yesterday I posted a selecton of Art Deco windows from Napier in New Zealand. Well we are still in Napier today but this I've got a selection of leadlight windows. Mostly they are from houses in Napier but a few are from the Rothman's Building.

  1. Some great windows. I wonder if in its heyday, leadlight was popular because they could not make glass very well. That is it distorted the view.

  2. I wonder. You see those Tudor windows with diamond shaped pieces of clear glass that might help get around the quality issues. I guess churches and other public buildings chose coloured stained glass windows to tell historical/bibical stories or for artistic reasons.
