For the start of the new year, I thought I'd add a new city to my blog - Nanjing, China.
This is the Xinjiekou branch of the Bank of China in Zhongshan E Road in Nanjing. A very faded sign indicates that the building was formerly a branch of the Xinye Bank and was built in 1937. The decoration is very subtle but you can see some of the detail in the panels below the windows. A much clearer sign promotes the building as the Lady's Bank incorporating a female face in the letter 'B' of the logo.

Welcome back :) Hope 2016 is a great year.
ReplyDeleteI am managing the History Carnival for January 2016 and need nominations for your own blog post or someone else’s by 31/1/2016. The theme I have chosen is History of the Visual, Performing, Musical and Literary Arts, but all good history posts will be welcomed. Especially since you love architectural history.

The January 2016 nomination form is at http://historycarnival.org/form.html
Thanks Helen. Happy New Year to you. Thanks for the heads-up on the History Carnival. I'll check it out and put something in for sure.
