Avenida 18 de Julio in Montevideo is lined with interesting buildings including this apartment block above a shoe shop (I think).

Edificio Artigas, Montevideo

This substantial building in the Ciudad Vieja (Old City) in Montevideo is the Edificio Artigas. It was designed by architect Joseph Carré and named in honour of the Uruguay national hero General José Gervasio Artigas.

This last one isn't a door, but it is an entrance to the seating area of Montevideo's Estadio Centenario where Uruguay won the first Football World Cup in 1930. How good is this deco plaque celebrating that achievement.

I can't remember what we saw first, the market or the modernist stadium. In any case we were close to our destination so it was worth getting off the bus and to have a stroll around the market stalls and take in the Club Biguá de Villa Biarritz.

I think this is 1625 Avenida 18 de Julio in Montevideo. My notes are somewhat lacking in the exact detail but certainly the number next to this Art Deco door reads 1625.
