Yesterday I posted a selecton of Art Deco windows from Napier in New Zealand. Well we are still in Napier today but this I've got a selection of leadlight windows. Mostly they are from houses in Napier but a few are from the Rothman's Building.

Some great windows. I wonder if in its heyday, leadlight was popular because they could not make glass very well. That is it distorted the view.
ReplyDeleteI wonder. You see those Tudor windows with diamond shaped pieces of clear glass that might help get around the quality issues. I guess churches and other public buildings chose coloured stained glass windows to tell historical/bibical stories or for artistic reasons.
