In Melbourne Art Deco, Robin Grow, President of the Art Deco & Modernism Society, examines the rise, fall and resurgence of Art Deco in Melbourne from the 1930s to the present day. With contemporary images by David Thompson and a team of photographers, supported by archival material, Melbourne Art Deco offers an invaluable insight into history and current state of one of the city's most popular styles.
The 1932 decoration looks very finely designed and crafted. If the Masonic Centre was/will be sold, what will happen to this Deco facade?
ReplyDeleteThe 2004 Heritage Study specifically cites the Art Deco façade as a rare example of the style in the area and recommends that the whole building be placed under Heritage Overlay. You'd need to contract the South Gippsland Council to determine if that next step was taken.
