Look up for inspiration and beauty
In Melbourne Art Deco, Robin Grow, President of the Art Deco & Modernism Society, examines the rise, fall and resurgence of Art Deco in Melbourne from the 1930s to the present day. With contemporary images by David Thompson and a team of photographers, supported by archival material, Melbourne Art Deco offers an invaluable insight into history and current state of one of the city's most popular styles.
nice find David, love how the central motif comes to a curve like that, and the white paintwork really makes the whole building stand out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Thomas. The light was so beautiful it really let the buildings shine.
ReplyDeletePerfect timing. This coming weekend is Heritage Weekend in Ballarat with all the organised tours etc. See http://ballaratheritageweekend.com/
ReplyDeleteIf you ever wanted particular buildings photographed in Ballarat, I would be delighted to do it.
Thanks Helen.
ReplyDeleteBallarat is a great town with a lovely mix of architecture from the grand Victorian buildings from the decades following the goldrush to lovely little deco gems like this.
Not to mention the whole Eureka Stockade and the goldrush history itself.
