Look up for inspiration and beauty
In Melbourne Art Deco, Robin Grow, President of the Art Deco & Modernism Society, examines the rise, fall and resurgence of Art Deco in Melbourne from the 1930s to the present day. With contemporary images by David Thompson and a team of photographers, supported by archival material, Melbourne Art Deco offers an invaluable insight into history and current state of one of the city's most popular styles.
Hello:
ReplyDeleteA very good example of globalisation which pays little, if any, attention to anything beyond the promoting of a brand. We are left wondering what the ground floor would have originally looked like.
Happy Easter.
There are lots of non-global, small even family run retail outlets that pay little regard to the original design of their buildings in the name of modernising their retail space. It is very common, at least here in Australia, to see the ground floor completly modified with the removal of all original features because it no longer fits how they need to run their business.
