Interesting modern baffle at the top of the chimney. Works with the building. The second storey lamp looks to be original. An odd little space between the second storey balcony and the porch roof but that is fine. Nice house. Oh, the mail box and gas meter. And what is the green sign?
Thanks Andrew. The green sign says "Tank Water in Use" and yes there could have been a better place for the gas meter out of the way but I agree, the mail box doesn't work with the house at all.
I'm enjoying making my way through your deco houses. Thanks! I'm into both deco and real estate. (I posted yesterdays info re Beyers st Albury) This links estate house reminds me of a house overlooking the 18th hole at Bowral Golf course at Burradoo, NSW. It was on the market a couple of years ago but I managed to find an old posting... http://www.homehound.com.au/bellvuepk+links+raod+burradoo+nsw+2576/ It retains the art deco both inside and out. Some lovely photos. A tip...I go to real estate web sites and select a state or location and put in the key word 'deco'. I think I know nearly every deco property for sale in NSW and Vic! Looking forward to your exhibition in Warragul. cheers.
MELBOURNE ART DECO
In 2009 Robin Grow published a book on Melbourne Art Deco, with images largely supplied by David Thompson. The book quickly sold out and he is pleased to say that it has now been re-published by Brolga Press, with updates, errors corrected and a new cover.
Best of all, it is selling for about $25 in the shops and on-line. Art Deco & Modernism Society members can purchase a copy from me for $22, (includes postage within Australia). For overseas orders please email for postage rates. Contact me at robingrow@ozemail.com.au if you are interested, and advise if you would like the book to be dedicated and/or signed.
