This is one of my favourite half dozen buildings in Montevideo. It is right in the middle of the main street Avenida 18 de Julio and goes by the name Palacio Lapido. It was designed by architects Juan Aubriot and Ricardo Valabrega. It was built in 1937.

One of your photos shows a long panel of low relief sculpture but it seems to be not as exposed to people in the street as it might have been. Do you know what the theme of the sculpture is?
ReplyDeleteI presume you mean the Auditorio Nelly Goitiño auditorium next door.
