I spotted this modernist house as we sailed into Devomport on the Spirit of Tasmania and had to drive around for a closer look.
The garden is a bit overgrown so it is difficult to get a good look at the house which appears to be a little bit rundown. A lick of paint and a bit of pruning of the trees and bushes and I think it could be absolutely magnificent.

Congratulations on achieving your 3rd blogbirthday David.
ReplyDeleteYes, a bit of TLC and yardwork, and the building's style would bloom again.
(I just posted (slightly)on the Melb Manchester Unity and searching for other blogs on it is how I ended up here today.)
Thanks Ann. Great that you noticed the facade of the Manchester Unity building. Have you been inside? The lift foyer/arcade at street level has some lovely art deco details and panels.
ReplyDeleteI took a trip in the MU lift, just to see it. I felt so guilty as I was not using it to go somewhere but just joyriding, I did not fully appreciate it. I will do it again.
ReplyDeleteSome of the upstair lift foyers have deco elements around the cornice but I haven't been to very many of them. It would be great to explore them all.
