In Melbourne Art Deco, Robin Grow, President of the Art Deco & Modernism Society, examines the rise, fall and resurgence of Art Deco in Melbourne from the 1930s to the present day. With contemporary images by David Thompson and a team of photographers, supported by archival material, Melbourne Art Deco offers an invaluable insight into history and current state of one of the city's most popular styles.
Love it! The rounded corners and the hotel name - perfect. Plus the detailing up the top.

I don't know if I was lucky to catch it with so many window open but it is nice to see when often you can't open the windows in modern hotels.
ReplyDeleteLovely original design and well preserved/renovated today. And what a treat - the map in your reference shows the connection between the Carlyle, the beach, theatres and restaurants etc.
ReplyDeleteYes Hels, the layout of Ocean Drive reminds me of English seaside resorts with hotels on one side of the street and the beach/sea on the other.
