Applecross District Hall by architects Eales, Cohen and Bennett (1934) is a great little building and quite rightly was given an A+ rating in the City of Melville Municipal Heritage Inventory 2004.
Great to see local government undertaking these these types of surveys to rate their local built environment with a view towards preservation.

Would this be a classic moderne style? I like the central mass, surrounded with cubic forms, maybe some sort of zigarnat type effect?

Hi Roger,
ReplyDeleteI don't really get into the technical breakdown of architectural styles. I am not formally trained in that area and it is difficult to find clear definitions of what these styles mean exactly. If I like the building and it was designed in the period surrounding the two world wars then I claim it for my Art Deco Buildings blog otherwise I try to stay clear of all the definitions.
Mosman Park WA theatre
ReplyDeleteOne of Perth's best Art Deco buildings for sure.
