I like the way a single decorative elements is used to tie together the different areas of this house in the Golf Links Estate in Camberwell.
In this view you can see the design used for the gate posts is repeated on the front of the house on the centre of the porch. It is also on the front of the garage at the end of the driveway.
Below is a view showing the element is also used in the centre of the low front wall and the interesting feature of the Golf Links Estate where a flowerbed has been created on the outside of the wall.

I showed your photos to my husband who wants to buy that house immediately. Partially because he loves deco architecture, but mainly because he wants to live and eventually die on a golf course. How far is this house from the first tee?
ReplyDeleteWell Helen, I estimate this house is about 70 years from the first tee. The estate was built on the former golf links land so he'll have to take up his search somewhere else. :)
ReplyDeleteI could definitely cope with living in that house, lovely!
ReplyDeleteYes it would be OK if I was forced to live there :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the inside! Have you ever considered popping a note in their letterbox? My sister lives on The Boulevard, last time I was in Melbourne my partner and I walks the streets of Hawthorn for a whole day.
ReplyDeleteI've thought about it Alison but never done it. On a few occasions the owner has seen me taking photos and come out and on even fewer occasions invited me in for a stickybeak.
